Healthy Breakfast: How to Poach an Egg


1 piece of whole wheat toast, Spinach, and 1 poached egg.

This is a great healthy breakfast option if you know you are going to have an active day! It has the protein to keep you full and the complex carbs that will get you through your workout. And even some greens to help you reach your daily veggie serving! I love poaching eggs because you don’t have to cook with any oil and there’s no mess left in the pan!

How to Poach an Egg:

Fill a frying pan or skillet with an inch of water and simmer on medium heat. Crack an egg into a small bowl. When the water is simmering, use the handle of a slotted spatula to swirl the water in a circle until it is flowing smoothly and creating a little whirl pool in the center of the pan. Quickly pour the egg in this little whirl pool. (This tactic prevents the egg from feathering out into the water). Turn off the heat and cover the pan. Let sit for 5 minutes. Use the slotted spatula to gently lift the egg out of the water and serve.
